Manager, Technical

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for allocated style, fitting control, garment engineering and costing support.

  • Proactive partnership with Corporate and Hub cross functional partners to resolve or prevent risk and/or T&A delay.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Responsible for teams development, identifying necessary training course or providing in person training to team members to able to execute their role to the best of their ability and further the knowledge and business awareness. Areas of focus fit knowledge, best practices around SOPs, communication and time management skills.

  • Support when need to compile, analyze and document clear directional fitting comments in Centric.

  • Ability to evaluate garment construction and quality to identify possible risk and testing required, additional be able to provide alternative suggestion to eliminate risk.

  • Provide guidance to your team in upholding design intent across multi bases sizes from 1st Fit though to PP Approval. Where cases arise support communication with NY Tech/Design if necessary.

  • Work closely with Hub sourcing and vendor to manage the teams T&A - Assisting where prompt conversation with vendors & action is needed.

  • Identify new or updates needed to SOP set in place internally and external within the company. Initiate project plans and collaborate with cross functional partner to build the right project teams.

  • Guide team to provide vendor accreditation training for PP and Fit Approval.

  • Provide support to technical team in training and yearly assessment of accredited vendors.

  • Responsible to review and confirm teams selected programs/style - Fit Approval which vendor will own self approval and PP Approval style PVH should own.

  • Build strong relationship at management level and below with our vendors and cross functional partners .

  • Lead and participate communication with cross functional teams sharing knowledge, aiding better alignment.

  • Responsible for quarterly check-ins and goals review with team members, providing feedback and guidance to grow and enhance team members skills and ability.

  • Responsible for technical communication and updates to internal and external parties.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS

Internal Contacts: Merchandising team, QA team, Fabric team, Trim team

External Contacts: Buying team, Design team, Development team, Vendor's tech team and sample room, pattern cad suppliers, Interlining and sewing machine equipment suppliers

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct: Junior technician, technician and senior technician

  • Indirect: All relevant vendor/factory sample tech and pattern maker

  • Sample approval / Pattern construction / Fitting result / Quality standard

  • Make decision at the best interest of brand and corporate

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or above in Technical Design, Pattern Grading or equivalent experience.

  • 7 years or above relevant experience

  • Knowledge of fitting, pattern making, grading, construction, testing, pad development, project management, SOP creation and experience

Skills:

  • Ability to multi task and manage multiple projects.

  • Organized and detailed oriented, takes immediate action to resolve issues and problems.

  • Calibrated mind set which builds good working relationships and leads to team building.

  • Excellent communication skills able to communicate effectively across the team and organization.

  • Vast knowledge of garment fit and ability to teach other on how to clear instruct a vendor on the garment manufacturability.

  • Strong working knowledge of bonding, sewing and molding techniques, stitch properties and overall garment detail.

  • Manage allocated budget.

  • Negotiating and entrepreneurial skills

  • Excellent time management.

  • Strong Ms Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).

  • Fluency in English.
